Madison Main Street Announces Scarecrow Contest

The contest will be judged on the spookiest residents, best on brand, most creative, and people’s choice.

(Madison, Ind.) – It is time to celebrate spooky season and to help welcome the season Madison Main Street will be hosting a scarecrow display contest.

If you are wanting to join the contest, scarecrows must be up and displayed by Monday, October 21, and stay displayed until judging on October 31 at 1:00 p.m. If scarecrows are taken down before judging on October 31, you will not be eligible to win a prize.

If you would like, displays may be displayed earlier.

Scarecrows should be displayed in front of your business or in your storefront window, front porch, or front window of your home or office downtown. The contest will be judged on the spookiest residents, best on brand, most creative, and people’s choice.

  • Hazardous items are not allowed, such as flammable objects including, but not limited to, candles, or torches, etc. Lighting should be powered by batteries or string lights.
  • Scarecrows are not to obstruct the view of passing cars or pedestrians
  • Madison Main Street Program is not responsible for the maintenance, clean up, or set up of the scarecrows and displays. All participants are responsible for their own displays and participation in the contest.

Ballot forms to vote for People’s Choice will be given to participating businesses along with a box to hold votes. Madison Main Street will collect these on Saturday, October 31st for the final judging.
