Madison-Jefferson Co. Animal Shelter Pets Of The Week

By Madison-Jefferson Co. Animal Shelter

November 5th

I'm "POGO".

I'm affectionate and I have a distinctive, deep purr.
I'm a very sweet boy with a sad story.
A collar that was placed on me while I was little grew into my neck as I got older and bigger.
So, I spent some time at the vet removing the collar.
Then, my diet was so poor while no one was caring for me that I lost a lot of my fur.
I've been recuperating from my neck wound and it's healing perfectly.
However, I may sound a little off when I breathe because of the trauma.
The breathing sound may always be with me, but does not interfere with my activities.
My medium-length, gray & white fur is looking much better too now that I'm getting good food to eat on a regular basis.
I'm looking forward to a happy ending to this part of my story.
When you come to meet me, please ask staff to bring you back to my recovery room.
I'll happily greet you at my cage door and ask if you're going to be part of my story by giving me my happy ending.
I'm $45 OFF my adoption fee courtesy of the shelter and the Jefferson County Humane Society.

My name is "STORM".
I love people and am very affectionate toward them.
I'm a handsome, 4-year-old Boxer mix that loves to play fetch with tennis balls.
I really enjoy squeaky toys too. But you'll need to buy sturdy ones as I look for what is squeaking.
I am very clean in my kennel and appear to be house-trained.
I sit nicely and am ready for a walk when you leash me.
Just be sure to let me know what you want from me so I don't lead you everywhere.
I need more time to learn to walk beside you on a leash.
I will do best without cats or other small animals in the household.
I seem to not like the other male dogs at the shelter, but that could change after I'm neutered.
I'm better with female dogs, so they may be okay.
Bring your dog to meet me so we can be sure before you adopt me.
I do like to have things set up comfortably and prefer an indoor home.
At the shelter, I demand a thick, comfy blanket in my kennel.
I also like bones to chew on to keep me busy.
The staff know when I'm not satisfied with the service here because I stop keeping my kennel clean.
I'm a 46 lb, fawn-colored gentleman with a dusting of black and white.
My adoption fee is $30 plus the cost of my neuter and rabies vaccination

As of November 1, new pricing is in effect at the shelter.
Dogs and Cats are $30 plus prepayment of their spay/neuter and rabies vaccination.
Cats who are already spayed/neutered are $45 plus prepayment of their rabies vaccination if it is needed.
Dogs who are already spayed/neutered are $55 plus prepayment of their rabies vaccination if it is needed.
The total cost of the spay or neuter and rabies vaccination varies depending on the veterinarian or clinic chosen.
