Madison Consolidated Schools Makes Changes to Reopening Plan Following New Recommendations

The school then received these recommendations from the Jefferson County Health Department on August 25.

(Madison, Ind.) – In a continued effort to keep families up to date on changes to health recommendations around COVID-19, Madison Consolidated Schools has released updated information that has been added to the reopening plan.

Earlier this week, the Indiana State Department of Health made changed to their recommendations. The school then received these recommendations from the Jefferson County Health Department on August 25.

The two new recent changes involve a returning to school following a negative test, and siblings quarantine when a positive test is in the home.

The new guidance says anyone who has tested negative who is not in close contact may return to school if they are fever-free for 24 hours, symptoms resolved, and no doctors note is required.

For those who have tested positive and also have a sibling in the school system, the new guidance states that siblings and household members that are in close contact are advised to quarantine. If your student is not tested but is believed to have COVID-19, the student and any sibling should quarantine.
