(Madison, Ind.) – During last night’s Madison City Council meeting, the council approved a request from the Madison Riverfront Development Committee to apply for a $250,000 grant through the Indiana Destination Development Corporation.
This grant along with other money that has been raised will go to build a new Super Overlook/ New Judges Stand.
This new structure will be able to provide a multi-purpose venue for things such as concerts, weddings, car shows, festivals, and more. Through all these activities the redevelopment committee is hoping that it will not only generate more tourist dollars but will also have a positive impact on the businesses and residents of Madison.
To date, the committee has already raised $465,000 of the $1.5 million budget, the money has been given through private funds as well as donations. The committee is hoping to be selected through the grant process to help with the financials as well but will not know until February of 2021.
This project has already been approved through the Redevelopment Commission.
Construction is set to begin in mid-July of 2021.
Anyone can help by sponsoring items like bricks, lamp posts, benches, etc., or give monetary donations to the Madison Riverfront Development Committee at PO BOX 1279 Madison IN 47250, or through the RDC Endowment Fund established at the Community Foundation.
