Longtime Ripley County Sheriff's Deputy Passes Away at 65

(Osgood, Ind.) – The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding communities are mourning the loss of Steve “Sully” Sullivan.

The longtime Ripley County Sheriff’s officer passed away on Sunday at the age of 65.

Sullivan began his career as a Reserve Officer for the Town of Osgood and as a Deputy Reserve Officer for the Sheriff’s Office in 1998.

He would later become a full-time merited deputy and was currently working part-time as Ripley County Courthouse Security.

One of his career accolades included being awarded the Indiana Sheriff’s Association’s Lifesaving Award in 2012 for rescuing an individual from a car fire.

Sullivan also served 20 years as a custodian for Jac-Cen-Del Schools.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be given to the St. John Cemetery or Ripley County EMS.
