Lengthy Investigation Leads To Arrest Of Local Couple

Neither parent possessed a valid prescription

                                    

October 25, 2021, Madison Police Detective Jeremey Perkins led an investigation in which a toddler reportedly ingested a narcotic at the family residence.  The toddler was treated at KDH-ER and later transported to a Louisville, Kentucky, Hospital for further treatment.   

As a result of Detective Perkins' investigation, in conjunction with the Department of Children Services, arrest warrants were sought and received for the child's parents. According to the investigation, neither parent possessed a valid prescription for the narcotic in which the toddler reportedly ingested. 

December 16, 2021, Detective Perkins, assisted by Officers Scudder, Wehner, Sweet, and Kloss arrested Joshua A. Abbott 40, Madison, Indiana, and Mistie Abbott 35, Madison, Indiana, on Level three (3) charges for NEGLECT OF A DEPENDANT CHILD.  

Both Joshua and Mistie were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.  Bond has been set at $50,000.00 cash only each.  Joshua and Mistie Abbott have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
