La Grange McDonald’s to Donate Sales to Support Louisville Metro Police Officer Nickolas Wilt

Officer Wilt remains hospitalized after responding to April 10 mass shooting

La GRANGE, Ky. - (April 26, 2023) – All day Thursday, the La Grange McDonald’s restaurant will be donating a portion of its sales to support Metro Police Officer Nickolas Wilt and his family. From 7am-7pm, 20% of the restaurant’s sales will be donated to the Louisville Metro Police Foundation who will be giving all of collected donations to the Wilt family. Representatives from the foundation will also be on site collecting in-person donations.

Officer Wilt, who is from La Grange, is a 26-year-old rookie Louisville police officer. He served as both a firefighter and a dispatcher in Oldham County before joining the Louisville Metro Police Department earlier this month. He was shot while responding to a mass shooting on April 10 at a downtown Louisville bank. He remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

“Officer Wilt was simply doing his job, running toward danger and violence without hesitation to protect his community,” says local McDonald’s Owner/Operator Emily Kasselmann. “We know that his family is hurting. Our community is hurting. We hope that this small act can help support them during this time.”

Donations are also being accepted online at SaferLouisville.org or on the organization’s Facebook page. Founded in 2005, the Louisville Metro Police Foundation is dedicated to improving the Greater Louisville community and making our city a safer place to live, work and visit by supporting the men and women of the Louisville Metro Police Department.
