La Grange Man Arrested Following Theft, Assault Incident At Area Walmart

When Strother was arrested, police say he was wearing the gold necklaces that had been stolen from the Walmart.

(La Grange, Ky.) – Police recently arrested the suspect from a violent theft that occurred at a Walmart in Oldham County.

According to the arrest report, 26-year-old Shampayle Strother was taken into custody on Monday afternoon at the Oldham County Library on multiple charges.

Strother was taken into custody following an incident that occurred Thursday afternoon at the Walmart on New Moody Lane in La Grange.  According to the police, Strother got away with several pieces of jewelry after assaulting an 89-year-old worker.

According to a report from WDRB, the punch left the elderly woman bruised, bleeding, and unconscious.

Witnesses who knew Strother came forward to identify him, and a tip led to his arrest on Monday in the Oldham County Library parking lot, stated the police.

When Strother was arrested, police say he was wearing the gold necklaces that had been stolen from the Walmart.

Currently, Strother is being held in the Oldham County Detention Center and is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment, and fourth-degree assault.

According to WDRB, the woman has been released from the hospital.
