Ky Vehicle Registration Grace Period Ends October 6

Anything that is overdue and not renewed before October 6 will accrue all relevant back taxes, fees, and penalties from the original due date.

(undated) – October is almost here, and for Kentuckians, that means that the grace period for registration renewals is almost over.

Any Kentucky resident who has not yet renewed their registration must do so by October 6, anything that is overdue and not renewed before October 6 will accrue all relevant back taxes, fees, and penalties from the original due date.

If you are needing to renew your registration, you can visit your County Clerk Office tp renew your vehicle registration in person. When renewing at the clerk's office make sure to bring:

  • Photo ID
  • Kentucky certificate of registration
  • Current original (not a copy) proof of Kentucky insurance effective date within 45 days
  • Money for fees and applicable taxes (check with your County Clerk’s office for accepted forms of payments)

Renewal of registration can also be done online, things needed for online registration are as follows:

  • Title Number
  • Plate Number
  • Debit/Credit Card
