Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision In Gallatin County

At this time toxicology reports are pending, and further investigation is being conducted. 

(Gallatin County, Ky.) - On November 30 Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a call in reference to an injury accident on Interstate 71 near the 55-mile marker.

The preliminary investigation showed that 26-year-old Mohamed Kassem had lost control of his vehicle due to the snowy road conditions. It was found that when the vehicle left the roadway it had collided with an unoccupied commercial vehicle parked on the emergency shoulder. Kassem was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. On December 1, KSP was notified that Kassem had succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

At this time toxicology reports are pending, and further investigation is being conducted.
