Kentucky State Police Investigate Henry County Fatal Collision

The crash investigation is ongoing

                                              

Henry County, Ky. (10/05/2024) – On Friday October 4, 2024 Kentucky State Police Post 5 received a call in reference to a two vehicle collision on Lagrange Road in Henry County at approximately 10:22 pm.  Multiple KSP Post 5 troopers responded to the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a sport motorcycle was traveling east on Lagrange Road near Dawkins Lane.  The operator of the motorcycle was Austin Doane, a 40 year old male of Smithfield.  A 2002 Chevrolet pick up truck, operated by Trustin Hasenauer was traveling west on Lagrange Road when it crossed the center line of the roadway and struck the motorcycle.  Mr. Doane was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Henry County Coroner.  The passenger on the motorcycle, Holly Hawkins (31 year old female of New Castle) was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by the Jefferson County Coroner.  Next of kin has been notified. 

Trustin Hasenauer, 21 year old male of Cheyenne Wyoming, was arrested and charged with *Murder, *Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st (Aggravating Circumstance), *Leaving Scene of an Accident/Fail to Render Aid/Assist With Death or Serious Physical Injuries, *Failure to Render Aid, *Reckless Driving, *Operating Vehicle with Expired Operator License, and *Failure to Produce Insurance Card.  Hasenauer was transported to and lodged at the Oldham County Detention Center.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5. KSP Post 5 was assisted on scene by Henry County EMS, Lake Jericho Fire, New Castle Fire and the Henry County Coroner Office.
