Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Henry County

This crash remains under investigation

                                   

SMITHFIELD, Ky. (10/14/2022) – On Friday October 14, 2022 at approximately 1204 pm Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a call in reference to a single vehicle collision in the area of 2725 Lake Jericho Road in Henry County.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2020 Freightliner Tanker ran off the right side of the roadway while traveling north on Lake Jericho Road before overcorrecting and traveling across the roadway.  The tanker truck exited the left side of the roadway and overturned. 

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Steven Hammack, a 63 year old male of New Albany Indiana.  Mr. Hammack was pronounced deceased on scene by the Henry County Coroner.  Next of kin has been notified.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5.  Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Henry County Coroner, Henry County EMS and the Lake Jericho Fire Department.
