(Switzerland Co., Ind.) - A Kentucky man has been charged with a level 6 felony and two misdemeanors following the March 5 incident where a Switzerland county deputy initiated a traffic stop which then turned into a vehicle pursuit before the man left the roadway due to missing a turn.
Stephen E. Castle, Warsaw, was charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, Level 6 Felony, driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and reckless driving, a Class B misdemeanor.
The pursuit began when a Switzerland County Deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Markland Pike and Stowtown Road. Before the deputy could make contact, Castle sped away leading to a pursuit.
The chase then continued for a matter of miles before Castle lost control of the vehicle and crashed while attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway.
Castle appeared in court for his initial hearing on March 6.
