Kentuckians Receiving Fraudulent Unemployment Benefit Letters

Individuals are encouraged to report these issues.

(undated) – It has been reported by the Kentucky Chamber that many Kentuckians have been receiving fraudulent letters stating they are entitled to unemployment insurance benefits.

These fraudulent letters are made to look as though it is coming from the state’s office.

Governor Andy Beshear has confirmed with the Kentucky Chamber that these letters are not coming from the state and is encouraging individuals to report these issues.

If you are to receive a letter, or suspect you have had a fraudulent UI claim, you can email the information to UIfraud@ky.gov.

Unfortunately, fraud issues are not new to Kentucky or with other states. Fraud makes up about 35 percent of UI pandemic claims. Over the past six months, the federal government has provided nearly $200 million to help states fight fraud measures and the Kentucky Attorney General has a fraud identity theft page located on their website for those who need additional assistance.
