(Madison, Ind.) - King’s Daughters’ Health and the Jefferson County Health Department will co-host a Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing event from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 in front of the Emergency Department entrance at the KDH Main Campus, 1373 East SR 62, Madison. Advanced registration is required. Participants must either have symptoms of COVID-19 or been exposed to the virus. Testing is available for participants ages 3-over.

To schedule an appointment, participants should call the KDH COVID-19 Hotline at 812.801.8010 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Appointments close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, or when capacity is full. Testing is limited. Participants may experience a waiting period during the testing process.

Key information for the Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing event:

  • All participants should register in advance – for example, multiple family members arriving in the same vehicle. If multiple participants are in the same vehicle, registrants need to each be sitting by a window.
  • Adult participants need to bring a valid Driver’s License (or ID) and updated Insurance Card. For testing purposes, parents/guardians may verify the identity of minors.
  • KDH will bill the participant’s insurance - most insurance policies cover COVID-19 testing.
  • Participants who do not have insurance coverage may still register. Members of the KDH team will assist those individuals when registering for an appointment.
  • Participants will receive a testing time upon registration. KDH asks that participants arrive on campus at their appointed time. KDH team members will direct participants to the testing area. Enter the Main Campus from SR 62.
  • Participants should remain in their vehicle with the windows rolled up until directed to the testing area. When testing personnel are ready, a member of the testing team will ask the participant(s) to roll down the window. KDH encourages participants to wear masks.
  • Participants need to arrive in a closed vehicle. Motorcycles and/or convertibles are not appropriate.  Once the nasal swab test is complete, participants may exit the campus, as directed.
  • It may take up to four days for test results to be completed. A member of the KDH team will contact participants with results. If needed, participants may contact their Provider (physician/nurse practitioner) about results. KDH asks that participants not call the COVID-19 Hotline to check on results.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea (per the CDC guidelines). This list does not include all possible symptoms. Talk with your provider if you have questions or concerns.

Registered participants who experience worsening symptoms should contact their Provider and not wait for the testing event. Anyone experiencing serious symptoms (such as shortness of breath or difficulty breathing) should go to their nearest emergency room or contact 9-1-1.
