In the early evening hours of Friday April 4th 2025, Jennings County Deputies were dispatched to Butlerville in reference to a disturbance. Multiple 911 callers were reporting an accident between an ATV and a passenger car. Callers also stated that a male subject was on the hood of the car trying to keep the car from leaving the scene. While enroute Jennings County Dispatch received information that shots had been fired during the altercation.
Deputies quickly arrived on scene and located the passenger car parked in a gravel lot with a female driver awaiting law enforcement arrival. The female operator of the vehicle provided a statement to Deputies and remained cooperative. Deputies were able to conclude that there was no sufficient evidence to indicate that a collision occurred between the ATV and the passenger car.
While speaking with the other party it was determined that the male subject, which climbed onto the hood of the passenger car displayed a firearm and fired multiple shots into the nearby ground.
As a result Harlan Pennycuff, 26, of North Vernon was arrested on the following preliminary charges.
Level 3 Felony- Criminal Confinement
