Jennings Co., Bartholomew Co. Runaway Juveniles Found In Iowa With Help Of Iowa State Patrol

This incident occurred on December 6.

(Jennings County, Ind.) - On Sunday, December 6, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the Jennings County Sheriff's Office received a complaint that two 15-year-old females, one from Bartholomew County one from Jennings County, had run away from a location in Jennings County.

The juvenile from Bartholomew County was staying the night in Jennings County. The initial report indicated that when the juvenile females ran away, they took a vehicle from a family member without permission. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that one of the juveniles may have had contact with a male subject through the internet. This information was unfounded.

Jennings County Dispatcher Julie Miller began "pinging" their cellphones in an attempt to locate them. Miller worked with the cellphone company, to eventually locate one of the cellphones which was traveling Westbound on Interstate 80 in the state of Iowa.

The information was then relayed to the Iowa State Patrol. A short time later, the Jennings County Sheriff's Office was advised by the Iowa State Patrol that the girls were located in Des Moines, Iowa driving the stolen vehicle.

Contact was then made with their parents.
