The county is continuing to experience a COVID-19 outbreak.
(Madison, Ind.) - We are continuing to experience a COVID-19 outbreak in one of our congregate settings, Madison Correctional Facility. The Indiana Department of Corrections is working with the facility regarding the outbreak. We are only seeing mild community spread at this time. We will continue this week at an ORANGE advisory status on the county metrics map provided by Indiana Department of Health website www.coronavirus.in.gov when the map updates today at noon.
As warmer weather approaches, we look forward to residents and visitors enjoying all Jefferson County has to offer in the way of parks and outdoor festivals. We would like to encourage all Jefferson County residents and visitors to continue to take responsibility for the health and safety of themselves and those around them by continuing to wash/sanitize your hands and mask up indoors with those outside your household when social distancing cannot be achieved. If possible, avoid crowded indoor venues unless you are masked.
We continue to administer COVID vaccines Monday thru Friday at the Jefferson County Health Department for those 18 years of age and older. Appointments can be scheduled by visiting www.ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211. We can also accept walk-ins on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 2pm-5pm and Thursdays and Fridays 10am-2pm.
