Jefferson County Sees Drop In December Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Jefferson County remains lower than the state percentage rate which is 4.0 percent.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released unemployment rates by county for the month of December.

Jefferson County saw a decrease in the number of unemployed residents. For December the unemployment rate stands at 3.9 percent which is down from the 4.4 percent seen in November.

Jefferson County is ranked 29th for unemployment percentage out of Indiana’s 92 counties. The unemployment rate in Jefferson County remains lower than the state percentage rate which is 4.0 percent.

As for neighboring counties, Switzerland County was ranked 10th at 4.5 percent, Jennings County was ranked 16th with 4.3 percent, Scott County was ranked 19th with 4.2 percent, and Ripley County was ranked 70th with 3.1 percent.

All five counties saw a decrease in unemployment rates.
