By Jefferson County Health Department, news release

Fifty percent were male, fifty percent female.

(Madison, Ind.) - Since announcing the initial deaths of county residents, the Jefferson County Health Department has recently seen three additional deaths reported over a relatively short period of time.

This brings our total death count to six.

The age range for these individuals has been from 56 to 94 years of age. Fifty percent were male, fifty percent female. We would like to take a moment now to remind our residents that, until a vaccine is widely available, our only defenses against this disease are masking, social distancing, and hand hygiene.

We urge you to continue to follow the guidance and recommendations related to these practices so that we have the best possible chance of preventing further tragedy, for maintaining optimum overall health, and for seeing the statistics begin to decline in our community.
