Appointments will need to be made for the vaccine
[Madison, IN] – The Jefferson County Health Department is now administering additional COVID-19 bivalent booster vaccines to eligible recipients. Vaccines will be administered by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. by calling 812-273-1942. Please have insurance information ready when calling to make an appointment.
According to the CDC’s Interim Clinical Considerations you may be eligible for an additional COVID-19 vaccine dose if:
- You are 65 years of age and older and got your first bivalent (updated) COVID-19 vaccine booster 4 or more months ago.
- You are moderately or severely immunocompromised and received a bivalent (updated) COVID-19 vaccine booster 2 or more months ago.
This dose will be the same composition as the previous bivalent vaccine that was made available last fall. And, since the current circulating strains are of the same Omicron lineage, there is great confidence that a booster with the existing bivalent vaccine will provide protection from these mutations as well.
Individuals who recently had COVID-19 infection may consider delaying bivalent booster vaccination by 3 months from the date of symptom onset or positive test. If you have any further questions you can contact the Jefferson County Heath Department at 812-273-1942
