Jefferson County Circuit Court To Display Student Artwork

Artwork will be displayed in the hallways on 3rd floor courthouse

The Jefferson County Circuit Court teamed up recently with the Jefferson County Historical Society and the Madison Area Arts Alliance (MAAA) to place over 20 canvases depicting student artwork in the courtroom on the third floor of the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Selections were made during the 2022 Student Art Show at the Jefferson County Historical Society Annual Student Art Show. Originals were photographed and produced on canvas for a colorful collection to adorn the walls of the historic courtrooms.

"The artwork produced by Jefferson County students will be a great addition to the walls of the courtroom, adding an assortment of topics, textures, and colors. We are proud to host this project and to partner with JCHS and MAAA. We are planning to select artwork from the Student Art show every year to add to this collection," said Judge Mote

Artwork hanging in the 3rd floor hallway may be viewed during regular business hours. The Circuit Court has cleared its calendars on Friday, May 19, from 11 am until 1pm so that members of the public may see the artwork hanging in the courtroom at a time when court is not in session.
