Jefferson Co. Moving To Orange Advisory On State Metric Map

Per executive order 20-53, social gatherings of any kind are limited to 50 people.

(Jefferson County, Ind.) – The Jefferson County Health Department has been notified by the Indiana Department of Health that Jefferson County will be moving from a “Red” level advisory to an “orange” advisory at noon today January 27, 2021.

An “Orange” advisory means that the county is seeing moderate to high community spread. Now that the county has remained at an “Orange” advisory for two weeks, we can now follow “Orange” regulations.

Per executive order 20-53, social gatherings of any kind are limited to 50 people.

All general requirements are still in effect. Those requirements are as follows:

  • Mask Wearing
  • Social Distancing
  • Hand Sanitizing/ Washing

The vulnerable populations should remain isolated.

All business capacity must adhere to strict social distancing guidelines, curbside pickup is preferred. All businesses are required to place clearly visible signage at their public and employee entrances notifying all that face coverings are required. Businesses should only admit those who wear face coverings properly (over nose and mouth) and practice social distancing.

Community recreational sports leagues and tournaments may continue with participants, required personnel, and parents/guardians and their minor children only. (Sports leagues may institute stricter regulations) K-12 extracurricular and co-curricular activities may continue but attendance is limited to 25% capacity (school may institute stricter regulations) All students and attendees must be socially distanced and wear face coverings.

While this is good news for Jefferson County, we must remain vigilant as we continue through the winter months. The color-coded advisories are updated every Wednesday at noon, www.coronavirus.in.gov.
