(Jefferson County, Ind.) - During the Jefferson County Commissioner's meeting on December 17, the commissioners approved a request from the Jefferson County Animal Shelter to raise the prices of pet adoptions.

The animal shelter announced that they will be raising its prices because they will now be spaying and neutering the animals as well as giving them their rabies shots. The animal shelter is hoping by doing this it will be more cost-effective and efficient for the families who adopt.

Currently, adoptive families take on the responsibility to have the animals spayed and neutered after adopting.

The animal shelter announced that the new prices will be $100 for dogs and $80 for cats.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt you can contact the Jefferson County Animal Shelter at (812) 273-1788.
