JCHD Administering Vaccine To Those 80 and Older, Health Care Works Next Week

This vaccine is available to individuals age 80 and older, as well as licensed and unlicensed health care workers.

(Madison, Ind.) – Today, the Jefferson County Health Department announced that they will be administering the COVID-19 vaccines to eligible recipients beginning on Monday, January 11.

Vaccines will be administered by appointment only, no walk-ins will be accepted at this time due to a limited supply of the vaccine.

Appointments can be scheduled beginning on Friday, January 8 by visiting, ourshot.in.gov, or by dialing 211 to be assisted with scheduling.

Jefferson County will be allotted 100 vaccines per week for the next three weeks, with an increase to be expected on week four. These shots are free with no cost to the individual, but insurance may be charged an administration fee. Individuals should bring a photo ID and an insurance card if you have one.

This vaccine is available to individuals age 80 and older, as well as licensed and unlicensed health care workers. A photo ID, proof of age, or verification of current employment as a healthcare worker or first responder in Indiana will be required. Jefferson County will be administering the Moderna vaccine, which requires two doses administered 28 days apart. A return appointment will be made for you after receiving your first dose. According to the CDC, it typically takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity after the second vaccination.
