Ivy Tech Madison Announces Ribbon Cutting for Nursing & Health Sciences Expansion

Ongoing commitment to meet the rising demand for healthcare professionals in Indiana

MADISON Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College Madison campus will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 10th at 11 a.m. on the second floor of the campus to celebrate the expansion and renovation of its nursing and health sciences facilities. This expansion is part of Ivy Tech’s ongoing commitment to meet the rising demand for healthcare professionals in Indiana and accommodate the growth of Ivy Tech Madison’s nursing program.

The expansion includes a comprehensive update to the east wing on the second floor, with advanced nursing simulation labs, adding new student lockers, and installing glass-walled classrooms. These renovations provide students with improved visibility and access to cutting-edge simulation technology, creating a learning environment that closely mirrors real-world healthcare settings.

The event will also ceremoniously celebrate the launching of the collaborative Hanover College and Ivy Tech Madison nursing partnership. The program provides Hanover College students with a seamless path to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The first cohort began this fall. Through this partnership, students start by completing foundational courses at Hanover College, then transition to Ivy Tech Madison to complete nursing-specific coursework and clinical training. Finally, they return to Hanover for their last year to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This unique partnership leverages Ivy Tech’s accredited nursing programs and extensive clinical networks, combined with Hanover's strong liberal arts foundation, to offer a comprehensive and cost-effective route to a nursing career. The program prepares students for the NCLEX exam and enables them to enter the workforce as competent, patient-centered nursing professionals.

The key supporters of this project include Norton Healthcare and Norton King’s Daughters Health, whose partnership with Ivy Tech Madison has been instrumental in making this expansion possible. “This collaboration exemplifies the power of industry and education working together to strengthen our healthcare workforce and benefit our local community,” said Dr. Amanda Harsin, Chancellor. “Expanding and improving these spaces will allow us to increase our student capacity, helping to meet the demand for healthcare professionals.”
