Investigation is ongoing

October 1, 2018, Jefferson County Sheriff Detective Yancy Denning led an investigation into an alleged domestic battery incident that occurred on September 30, 2018.  The adult female victim reported being battered, and held against her will.  The allegation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Brandon P. Mefford 30, Madison, Indiana.  Mefford was taken into custody by Denning on October 4, 2018, for the alleged charges of domestic battery class A misdemeanor and criminal confinement level 6 felony.

As a result of this investigation deputies obtained a search warrant for Mefford’s State Road #250 residence.  With the assistance of the Indiana State Police, officers seized guns and ammunition.   The investigation is ongoing and information obtained from the search warrant will be turned over to the prosecutor’s office for further review.  Deputy Linton Spry and the Indiana State Police assisted Denning with the investigation.  All charges are alleged.
