Principal resigned effective Jan 4th
Anderson Elementary School will finish out the 23-24 school year with an interim principal following the resignation of Ms. Kirstyn Preizer which went into effect on January 4th. Current Assistant Principal Adam Jones will remain in his postion.
Madison Schools Superintendent Teresa Brown has announced that Effective immediately Mrs. Joyce Imel will serve as the interim Principal of Anderson Elementary through the remainder of the school year. Mrs. Imel's vast experience as an educator, administrator, and staff member with the building gives her a unique perspective and the necessary relationships with students and staff members to ensure a smooth transition and provide stability fpr a strong second semester.
"It has been a privlege to serve Madison Schools for over 50 years and look forward to serving as interim principal at Anderson this semester which will facilitate the time needed to find the principal candidate who will serve for the academic year 2024-2025
Imel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Hanover College, a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University Southeast, and an Ed.S. in School Administration from Indiana University Bloomington
As an educator, Mrs. Imel spent 15 years teaching second, third, and fourth grades and 27 years in school administration.
During that time she served as the Assistant Principal at the former E.O. Muncie for 2 years, as Principal at Deputy Elementary and Ryker's Ridge before retiring in 2002.
In addition to building level impact, Imel served as an eight-year member of the Madison School Board of Trustees and President of that Board for two years.
She has spent the last year and half as a Reading Interventionist at Anderson
