JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. - In partnership with Egis and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 22, for the proposed Park Road over Muscatatuck River bridge rehabilitation project located in Crosley Fish and Wildlife Area in Jennings County.
The hearing will take place at the Jennings County Public Library (2375 IN-3, North Vernon, IN) and will provide an opportunity for the public to interact with the project team, receive the latest updates for the project, and provide official public comment. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees with time to view displays and talk with project personnel prior to a presentation that will begin at 6 p.m. Following the presentation, a public comment session will be held.
The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate the bridge for continued motorist use. Improvements include rehabilitating the truss, bridge deck, gusset plates, low chord, and secondary truss members. Replacing concrete, pier caps, and handrail are also included in the project.
The bridge will remain closed while construction is in progress. An existing detour route exists and follows S.R. 3, S.R. 7, Pike Street, Washington Street, C.R. 25 West, C.R. 60 West, C.R. 115 South, and C.R. 75 West. Construction is currently anticipated to begin in 2026 and is expected to take up to four months, weather permitting. The estimated construction cost is approximately $942 thousand.
