Indiana State Trooper Steven Peyton Promoted to Detective

He has been a state trooper since 2016

Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter announced the promotion of Trooper Steven Peyton to the rank of Trooper Detective.

Detective Peyton is originally from Charlestown, Indiana, and a 2011 graduate of Jeffersonville High School.  In 2015, Peyton graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.  Steven served as a reserve police officer with the Charlestown Police Department for two years before being accepted to the Indiana State Police.  Peyton graduated from the 76th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 2016 and was assigned to the Sellersburg Post, where he primarily patrolled Clark and Floyd counties.  

Detective Peyton has been a member of the Indiana State Police Honor Guard since 2018 and a Drug Recognition Expert since 2020. 

Detective Peyton and his wife Katie have been happily married for three years and have one child.  The family resides in Clark County.
