(Indianapolis, Ind.) – With primary elections right around the corner, the Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson would like to remind voters to return their absentee ballots.
“We’re facing an unusual situation in this year’s primary, and given the volume of absentee ballot requests and returns, I want to make sure all Hoosiers are able to make their voice heard,” said Secretary Lawson.
There are many options when it comes to returning an absentee ballot.
Hoosiers can mail in their ballots, if you have already sent in your ballot you can check the status of the ballot on www.IndianaVoters.com or call the county clerk’s office.
Ballots must be received no later than noon on Election Day.
Also, with the high volume of absentee ballots in this year’s primary election, the U.S. Postal Service is experiencing a high level of strain.
Those voting by absentee ballot may also hand-deliver their ballot to the county clerk’s office prior to Election Day and return the ballot to any polling place during early voting or on Election Day.
If you would like to drop your ballot off at a polling station, you will need your ballot and a photo ID. Voters will then be instructed to fill out and ABS-5 form, void their absentee ballot and vote at the polling place.
This may be done at any precinct polling place, voting center, or the county clerk’s office until 6:00 p.m. on Election Day.
As a reminder, early voting is open until Monday, June 1 in all counties, and polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
If you have any questions about voting, you can call the Hoosier Voter Hotline at 866-IN-1-VOTE, or visit www.IndianaVoters.com.
