The state’s unemployment rate is still under the national rate of 6.3 percent.
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development today announced the unemployment rate for the state of Indiana for the month of January.
Last month, Indiana saw an unemployment rate of 4.2 percent, which is lower than that seen in December of 4.3 percent. Indiana’s unemployment rate is still under the national rate of 6.3 percent.
Indiana’s labor force had a net increase of 3,803 over the previous month. This was a result of a decrease of 12,700 unemployed residents and an increase of 16,503 employed residents. Indiana's total labor force, which includes both Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment, stands at 3.35 million, and the state’s 63.3 percent labor force participation rate remains above the national rate of 61.4 percent.
January employment data for Indiana Counties, Cities, and MSAs will be available Tuesday, March 16 at noon.
