Indiana BMV now requires citizens to renew their license with the REAL ID

If they plan to travel

The Indiana BMV now requires citizens to renew their license with the REAL ID if they plan to travel. Our office wanted to make our services known to citizens in the County. According to the BMV website, if your legal name is different from the name on your identity document, you must present documents to show legal proof of the name change. In cases of marriage, divorce or adoption, you will have to provide documents showing name changes. Our County Genealogist, Erica Cline, is able to retrieve records from the early 1800’s.

The Clerk’s Office has developed an online form on our County website to help better serve those needing historical documents. Feel free to also call, email or visit the Genealogy Office, Monday thru Friday, 8a-4p.

Our goal is to make all genealogy research easier for everyone. For assistance or additional questions, please contact Erica Cline or Tabatha Eblen at  Tabatha.eblen@jeffersoncounty.in.gov Erica.cline@jeffersoncounty.in.gov or 812-265-8924
