Indiana 265 to be designated as Interstate 265 in Clark County

Create a more functional and integrated roadway system

CLARK/FLOYD COUNTY, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces it will designate Indiana 265 as Interstate 265 from the I-65/I-265 interchange north of Jeffersonville to the Lewis and Clark Bridge over the Ohio River in Clark County.

This designation will work to create a more functional and integrated roadway system along the corridor for both Hoosier motorists and for those located in surrounding areas. The contract includes guardrail installation work, I-265 resigning work as well as the renumbering of exits along the entire I-265 corridor.

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc. is scheduled to begin guardrail installation work on or after Monday, October 28, in Clark and Floyd Counties. Crews will begin conducting nightly single lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on IN-265/I-265 in Clark and Floyd Counties while guardrail work is in progress. Crews plan to conduct nightly single lane closures for guardrail work for up to three months, weather permitting.

INDOT will provide additional information as work progresses. Additional project information and resources can be found here.

Overall work along I-265 is expected to be complete by Fall 2026, weather permitting. This work is part of a $14.4 million contract awarded to RoadSafe in December 2023.INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
