IDEM Issues Advisory For High Levels Of Blue-Green Algae On Some State Lakes

Hardy Lake is one of them

Several areas of Indiana are under a recreational advisory.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management issued the advisory Friday due to blue-green algae.

Nine lakes are included in the warning including Hardy Lake in Scott County.

The algae has made headlines in the past week after four dogs died from swimming in lakes with high levels of the algae.

IDEM reported that while swimming and boating is still permitted at the designated lakes, you should not swallow the water and be sure to shower after swimming.

Pets should not swim in or drink the water.
