The Jennings County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a one-vehicle crash resulting in the death of a Holton man.

Deputies were sent to the accident on U.S. 50 east of County Road 200N where a red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west on U.S. 50 went across the center line and went off the side of the road on the south side, said Lt. Mike Mowery, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Deputies determined the driver, Richard L. Sutton, 69, Holton, had died at the scene, Mowery said.

Sutton’s vehicle went into a ditch and hit a fence before coming to rest in a yard, Mowery said.

Deputies are investigating whether Sutton suffered a medical emergency before his truck left the road. A witness who was traveling behind  Sutton at the time of the crash said it appeared Sutton may have slumped over the wheel prior to his truck going off the highway.
