Historic Madison, Inc. President John Staicer announced that Larry and Valecia Crisafulli are the 2022 Dorothy Inglis Reindollar Historic Preservation Award recipients. The Crisafullis were honored Friday evening at the HMI annual Preservation Gala fundraiser which highlighted Madison’s important Greek Revival architectural heritage.

In his remarks, Staicer noted “Madison is an amazing historic community because of people like the Crisafullis who give so much of themselves to preserve and improve our amazing city.  Historic preservation is one of the major economic drivers in our community.  Larry and Valecia have restored a number of properties, including the burnt out shell of the former Elks Lodge and a long neglected and underutilized Main Street property.  They brought these properties back to life and created much needed living and commercial spaces for Madisonians,” Staicer noted.  “The Crisafullis are shining stars in the continuing effort to revitalize Madison’s nationally significant historic district for current and future generations.  They are active in and support a wide range of preservation, community development and revitalization projects and organizations in addition to their investments in historic structures, very much in the spirit of Dotti Reindolllar,” he continued.

in his book Greek Revival in America.  The Shrewsbury-Windle House is the
best of the best” of our nation’s Greek Revival style buildings according to Marsh Davis, President of Indiana Landmarks, one of the most prestigious historic preservation organizations in the U.S.
