Plans are to reopen today

A restaurant reopens today after being sanitized against hepatitis A.

Three Rivers Health Department officials say an employee of the McDonald's in Owenton was recently treated for the virus after handling food.  The restaurant was closed Monday.

"This is not any fault of McDonald's, but purely an unfortunate circumstance of an employee that was sent home due to their illness,"

People who ate at the restaurant on Main Street between August 16th and 27th are urged to get vaccinated against hepatitis A.

Owenton McDonald’s management is cooperating with the investigation and response activities. They have enhanced disinfection of surfaces that may have been contaminated. Employees have been informed to get vaccinated against hepatitis A and to monitor for symptoms and report any related illness to their management. Handwashing and other hygiene practices have also been reinforced with the restaurant management and employees.
