Hardy Lake to Host Free Fishing Weekend

Indiana residents who wish to attend do not need their fishing license this weekend.

(Scottsburg, Ind.) - Get ready for a weekend of some free fishing fun at Hardy Lake. 

Beginning Friday, June 5 until Sunday, June 7 visitors will be able to have a fun-filled weekend packed full of events.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, June 5

  • 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    • Live Raptors on display near the front office
  • 6:00 p.m. 
    • Watch for the Roving Narutlaist in the Campground

Saturday, June 6

Watch for the Roving Naturalist throughout the day

  • 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
    • Live Raptors on display near the front office
  • 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Basic Family Fishing:
      • Meet the workers at the family fishing hole near the office for some basic instruction for beginners fishing. Sanitized loaner poles and bait will be provided
  • 2:00 p.m.
    • Reel Em In Fishing Game
      • Meet at the beach to try your hand at casting and win a prize
  • 7:00 p.m. 
    • Predators Of The Fields, Forests, and Waters
      • Live Raptor program at the amphitheater

Sunday, June 7

  • 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
    • Live Raptors on display near the front office
  • 11:30 a.m.
    • May the Forest Be With You Hike:
      • Meet the Naturalist at the main trailhead across from the beach access road for a fun dive into the native forest (Easy to Moderate Level Trail 1 Mile)
