Ground Beef Products Recalled Due to Possible Contamination

(Chicago, ILL.) - If you have purchased raw ground beef at the grocery store within the last month, it might be part of a large recall.

Amity Packing Company Inc., a packing company out of Chicago, has recalled 2,020 pounds of raw ground beef products that could be contaminated by “thin, pliable plastic.”

On Friday, January 24 the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Saftey and Inspection Service, announced that some of the products have been shipped to areas of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio along with other states as well.

Possible contaminated products are 1-lb. vacuum-packed, packages containing “Pre 95% LEAN/5% FAT GROUND BEEF” with lot code “0060,” case code “11402” and USE/FREEZE BY date of “01/31/2020” on the product label. The products subject to recall have an establishment number of “EST. 6916” printed on the right, front side of the package.

This problem was found when two consumers reported clear plastic was found in Pre Brands LLC. Ground beef.

Since these products were produced on January 6, the food safety and inspection service are concerned that some products could be in your fridge or freezer already.

If you have purchased these items do not consume the. You can either return the products to where they were purchased or throw them out.

There have not been any reports of adverse reactions from the consumption of these products.
