Greg Pence Announces Indiana to Receive Over $28 Million in Federal Funding to Battle the Opioid Crisis

The grant programs are part of the Trump administration’s commitment to combating the Nation’s opioid crisis.

(Columbus, Ind.) - U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is distributing the first-year funds of its two-year State Opioid Response (SOR) and Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) grant programs. The State of Indiana will be awarded $28,822,022 for people in need of prevention, treatment, and recovery support services.

“Substance abuse disorders plague our communities and Americans need help. The Opioid Crisis is affecting people from all walks of life, and I am committed to supporting the help that Hoosiers need to defeat addiction,” said Congressman Pence. “Programs like SAMHSA help our communities battle this crisis at the ground level. I am grateful to the Trump Administration for dedicating much-needed attention and funding to Americans in need.”

In March 2019 and March 2020, Congressman Pence authored letters to the House Committee on Appropriations to include funding to battle the Opioid Crisis and help defeat addiction.

The grant programs are part of the Trump administration’s commitment to combating the Nation’s opioid crisis and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Five-Point Opioid Strategy.
