Gov. Holcomb announces three state agencies secure 2024 Top Workplace award

Department of Revenue has earned the award 6 years in a row

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Eric J. Holcomb today applauded three state agencies that received the 2024 Top Workplace award. The agencies include Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR), Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) and Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).

In partnership with Energage, IndyStar conducts an employee-driven survey of more than 200 Indiana businesses, with input from more than 37,000 employees. The results of those surveys showed that DOR, IOT and IEDC all ranked in the top 10% of surveyed businesses.

“The State of Indiana continues its strong reputation focused on employee engagement, growth, leadership and maintaining a healthy work culture,” Gov. Holcomb said. “The results from the voluntary employee survey reinforces the state’s commitment to providing staff with a competitive compensation and benefits package and a flexible work-life balance.”

DOR has impressively held the title of an IndyStar Top Workplace for the last six years, receiving a special recognition in 2024 for compensation and benefits, innovation, leadership, purpose and values and work-life flexibility. DOR Commissioner Bob Grennes was also recognized for the Leadership Culture Excellence Award.

DOR employs nearly 700 Hoosiers striving to make their agency the premier tax administrator in the nation and a great place to work. In addition to the IndyStar recognition, DOR has been recognized as a national, Top Workplace USA for four consecutive years, from 2021–2024.

For the second year, IOT was recognized as a Top Workplace in Central Indiana, noting the agency’s work-life flexibility and culture. The recognition demonstrates IOT’s dedication to advancing the state’s technology infrastructure and ensuring strong IT security. IOT has nearly 500 employees and offers more than 120 technology products maintained and serviced by expert staff with licenses or certifications in 62 technical areas.

IEDC employs approximately 100 staff members across Central Indiana and was recognized as a top small company in the 2024 Top Workplace awards. Notable feedback from the survey showed employees are energized by the direction of the IEDC, which is a quasi-agency charged with growing the state economy, driving economic development and helping businesses launch, grow and locate in the state. The IEDC received high marks for employee engagement and meaningfulness as employees feel they are contributing to impactful work. The IEDC increased their employee feedback in a number of categories, such as engagement, empowered to execute, enabled to grow and being fairly valued, compared to the 2023 survey.

In addition to work-life balance, State of Indiana agencies prioritize the continued education of their teams with tuition assistance and reimbursement programs for eligible full-time employees. The state also offers its employees paid community service leave time, flexible scheduling and remote work options, as well as generous holiday, vacation and personal leave time.
