Funding supports replacing HVAC system for a children’s home, safe disposal of household hazardous waste and cybersecurity
FORT MITCHELL, Ky. (Sept. 6, 2023) – Today, at the DCCH Center for Children & Families, Gov. Andy Beshear announced more than $450,000 in awards to benefit Kenton County. The funding will support replacing an HVAC system at the children’s home, safe disposal of household hazardous waste and cybersecurity.
“Today we are supporting our best investment – our people,” said Gov. Beshear. “Each award announced today will help improve the daily lives of Kentuckians in Kenton County by providing a new HVAC system for a children’s home, supporting efforts for residents to safely dispose of hazardous waste and increasing cybersecurity for this community.”
“The Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home has an incredible history of serving children in Northern Kentucky that are in need,” said Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann. “I appreciate the Commonwealth of Kentucky investing in DCCH to ensure that it will continue this service for many years to come. We can never do enough to support our most at-risk children to give them an opportunity to succeed in life.”
“I’m extremely pleased to see this funding come into Kenton County. After all, these are taxpayer resources and should be used to the benefit of this community,” said Rep. Mark Hart of Falmouth.
Fort Mitchell Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home HVAC Project
Gov. Beshear presented $435,320 to the Fort Mitchell Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home. The funding will go toward replacing the out-of-date HVAC system.
“The Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home and the city of Fort Mitchell have a long history of working together, and the city certainly stepped up to see that these federal funds help serve DCCH and this vulnerable population with Fort Mitchell,” said Rep. Kimberly Moser of Taylor Mill. “DCCH is an invaluable resource to so many families and children in our region. This ensures the continuity of these critical services.”
Energy and Environment Cabinet Award
The Governor highlighted $16,600 from the Energy and Environment Cabinet to the city of Covington. The funding will support efforts to help Kenton County residents safely dispose of household hazardous waste.
Cybersecurity Grant Award
Gov. Beshear presented a $4,752 grant from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security to the Kenton County Fiscal Court to support cybersecurity and information technology in Kenton County
