Home destroyed in rural Gallatin Co.
A fire that took the life of a man in Gallatin County in the early morning hours of January 17th has claimed a second life. Esta "Mae" Wallace, 78, died this past Saturday.
Wallace was rescued from the home by deputies then taken to UC Medical Center where she had been treated in the burn unit.
Kenny Higgins and Wallace were in the home on Sayersville Road in rural Gallatin Co. when that fire started. Higgins was in his 50′s and was disabled and lived with Wallace who was his aunt.
Higgins was found dead at the home.
The house was destroyed and firefighters are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
