State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) (right) receives the Legislator of the Year award from the Disabled American Veterans Friday, June 3, 2022, at the JW Marriot Hotel in Indianapolis. He is joined by fellow award recipient State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown) (left) and Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch (center). Frye, chair of the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee, received the recognition for supporting and advocating for Hoosier veterans. He co-authored and supported legislation making it easier for veterans to transition into civilian life, increasing access to more mental and physical health resources and funding the new Indiana Veterans Center in Indianapolis. The new center, made possible through $7 million in funding from the Indiana General Assembly, houses multiple federal, state, city and nonprofit veterans service agencies under one roof. The building is meant to serve as the first and last stop for veterans and their families to connect to assistance, whether it's job training, legal help, healthcare or housing.
