Fourth Month For Unemployment Drops In Jefferson County

Jefferson County and all neighboring counties saw a drop in unemployment.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the September unemployment numbers by county.

This is the fourth month in a row that Jefferson County has seen a decrease in unemployment numbers.

In the month of September, Jefferson County saw an unemployment rate of 5.1 percent, which is a .9 percent decrease from the month of August.

Jefferson County was ranked 36th for unemployment percentage out of all 92 Indiana counties and has a lower percentage rate than that of the state which is 6.2 percent.

As for the neighboring counties, Scott county was ranked 11th with 5.9 percent, Switzerland County was ranked 18th with 5.9 percent, Jennings County was ranked 41st 5.0 percent, Ripley County was ranked 63rd with 4.0 percent.

Overall, all neighboring Jefferson County saw a decrease in unemployment percentage.
