(Madison, Ind.) - Today, Madison Police responded to the scene of a report of a fight in progress on the 170 block of Taft Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located the parties involved who became verbally combative when officers attempted to seize a handgun which was allegedly displayed during the altercation.
As officers attempted to take Ta’Juan Manning, 42 and Ta’Shawn Manning, 42, both of Madison into custody, both resisted. Officers then displayed their tasers and eventually were able to take both the Manning’s into custody.
There were also two females on the scene, Kayla Jones, 28, and Chesea Baxter, 30, both of Madison. The two women interfered with officers and were arrested as well.
Jones battered Patrolman Brad Demaree, striking him in the head while he was attempting to take Ta’Juan into custody.
Officer Demaree sustained minor injuries and was treated by EMS.
The investigation continues and is being led by Patrolman Demaree and Sergeant Shawn Scudder. Madison police Detectives Kyle Cutshaw and Ricky Harris are also assisting with the investigation.
All charges are alleged, and each person has the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
