Former Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Tom Browning Dead at 62

Browning was found unresponsive at his Union, KY home on Monday afternoon.

(Union, Ky.) – Former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning has passed away.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Browning’s home in Union around 1:01 p.m. after receiving a report that he was found not breathing.

Deputies located Browning unresponsive on a couch inside the home. Life saving measures were attempted but the efforts were unsuccessful.

Browning was pronounced dead at 1:13 p.m.

No foul play is suspected in connection with Browning’s death. No further information has been provided at this time. 

Browning pitched for the Cincinnati Reds from 1984 to 1994. He is known as Mr. Perfect for throwing a perfect game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 16, 1988.

For his career, Browning went 123-90 with an ERA of 3.94. He was a member of the Reds World Series championship team in 1990 and made the National League All-Star Team in 1991.

He was elected to the Reds Hall of Fame in 2006.
