Monday Night, at approximately 9:00 PM Madison Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance, with a shot fired, in the 900 block of E. Second Street.  Upon arrival, Officers located James N. Thomas 47, outside his E. Second Street residence.  Officers ordered Thomas to stop, however he fled back into his home.

Officers were able to quickly determine that Thomas was alone in the residence, and that other family members involved had fled to safety, at another location.

Officers from the Madison Police Department, Indiana State Police and Jefferson County sheriff's Department secured a perimeter around the exterior of the residence.  The Indiana State Police Emergency Response was requested.

Prior to the ERT's arrival, Madison Police Detective Ricky Harris established communications with Thomas.  After a short conversation, Thomas exited the front door of the residence, and was taken into custody without further incident.

James Thomas faces preliminary alleged charges of Intimidation Level 5 Felony and Resisting Law Enforcement Level 6 Felony. No injures were reported as a result of this incident.  Officers seized several firearms from the residence as part of this ongoing investigation.

All charges are allegations and Thomas has the presumption of innocence unless otherwise proven guilty in a court of law.
