Couple Arrested After Arguement At Scottsburg Motel

Female lied to officers

On 08/10/2021 at 10:10 a.m. officers Channing Collins and Cody Newsome received information about two individuals arguing at Mariann Motel. Witnesses stated a male came out of a room and grabbed a female dragging her back into the room. The suspects room was located and Tanya Scott met officers at the door. Ms. Scott had visible signs of battery. According to Ms. Scott the male had fled on foot and gotten into a black vehicle before officers arrived. Several individuals at the motel were indicating the male was still inside and possibly in possession of a handgun. Ms. Scott did not want officers to enter the room and kept insisting the male was gone. For the safety of Ms. Scott officers entered the room. While attempting to locate the suspect male Lt. Brian Hall lifted a mattress at which time the male identified as Bryan Scott forced the bed upward and attempted to flee out the door. Officer Newsome and Major Hardin along with Officers Collins grabbed the suspect and forced him to the ground. Mr. Scott would not stop resisting and after Lt. Hall deployed his Taser at which time the suspect was taken into custody. A 9mm handgun was located under the bed where Mr. Scott was located. Both suspects were taken to the the Scott County Jail. Suspects innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
